Great Pyrenees (LGD) puppies in Oregon

Available for Rehoming around June 20, 2021 in Eugene

We have our Great Pyrenees puppies here in Eugene, Oregon, available for home placement around June 20, 2021, when they will be ten weeks old and already exposed to our farm animals.  We have four boys and five girls Great Pyrenees to home, all as cute as punch. We are taking reservations for Great Pyrenees now but only to qualified homes with farms or land.

We ourselves are a working farm (not a breeder) with Nigerian Dwarf goats, ducks, chickens, cats and alpacas for sale and will be training our puppies to have farm experience before placement.

Our farm does not have great fences against predators, and our farm here in Lane County, Oregon is surrounded by forests filled with cougar, coyotes, bears and raptors (hawks and eagles).  With our one Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD), unlike our neighbors who do not have an LGD, we have lost no livestock. We decided to do a one-time breeding with our proven LGD, a purebred Great Pyrenees, in order to keep her son. We searched throughout Northern California, Oregon and Washington to find a suitable purebred Great Pyrenees for sale that could father our female Great Pyrenees of like temperament. He is a working Great Pyrenees dog from an Oregon winery, and the two it off. Both Great Pyrenees parents are great livestock guardians dogs, yet friendly with people, including our tiny grandchildren.  A perfect combination.

Both parents have extraordinary black fur lining their black eyes, like mascara. It makes their faces stunningly beautiful.  The Great Pyrenees puppies currently have dark spots, that in our experience, will disappear when their adult fur comes in.

Meanwhile, check out our fun puppy videos below, listed in the order they were filmed from near birth to more recently. To see puppies, today, scroll to bottom.  And come visit us.

Come see our pups.  The Riverlark Farm is a family farm in Pleasant Hill, Oregon, just a few moments from Eugene in Lane County.  We work by appointment only. We are happy to answer any questions by phone, text or email.

Of all the LGDs, we think the Great Pyrenees is the best temperament with humans.  It’s why we bred a purebred GP and not a mix with other breeds.  We ourselves have grandchildren and we want them safe.  Here we are training our pups that children are friends.  As a farmer, it also may lower your liabilities with unwanted accidents.

Here the mother is spending a quiet moment with her daughter.  The puppies are starting to interact with each other, mom, and livestock in wonderful ways.

Mom is weaning here.  The puppies are starting to get teeth and already eating solid food.  Her plan is to stand up to make it harder to nurse… but it doesn’t work!

All nine puppies at our doorstep in the morning.  The air is in the low 40s, but they are already adapted!  A hardy breed well suited for the outdoors.

We love the geometry of these two siblings, again early in the morning.

Again, early in the freezing morning before our coffee.  The self-confidence of Great Pyrenees is an inspiration to me.  Here one of our girls is just sleeping on her back with her paws up in the air without a care in the world.  GP seem equally fearless with predators, and always fun to watch.

The following information is to help people find this web page…  Great Pyrenees is a type of LGD (Livestock Guardian Dog) to protect livestock (goats, sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, horses).  We believe that the Great Pyrenees is the best combination of two traits: (1) Lifestock Guardian Dog traits, but also (2) friendly with people and children.  In this respect, we feel Great Pyranees compare favorably against other LGDs such as Aidi, Akbash, Aksaray Malaklisi, Armenian Gampr, Ashayeri Dog, Azerbaijani Shepherd Dog, Bakharwal dog, Bucovina Shepherd, Buryat-Mongolian Wolfhound, Cane di Mannara, Cão de Castro Laboreiro, Cão de Gado Transmontano, Carpathian Shepherd Dog, Caucasian Shepherd Dog, Central Asian Shepherd Dog, Estrela Mountain Dog, Georgian Shepherd, Ghadrejani dog, Greek Shepherd, Himalayan Sheepdog, Kangal, Karakachan, Kars, Karst Shepherd, Komondor, Koyun dog, Kuchi, Kurdish Shepherd Dog, Kuvasz, Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdog, Mazandrani dog, Mioritic Shepherd, Mongolian banhar, Mucuchies, Persian Mastiff, Polish Tatra Sheepdog, Pyrenean Mastiff, Rafeiro do Alentejo, Romanian Raven Shepherd Dog, Sardinian Shepherd Dog, Šarplaninac, Shirak Sheepdog, Slovak Cuvac, Spanish Mastiff, Tibetan kyi apso, Tibetan Mastiff, Tobet, Torkuz, Tornjak, and Vikhan Sheepdog.  Some people even use llamas or donkeys to protect livestock, but LGDs are better we feel.

It is a mistake to think that we have Great Pyrenees dogs for sale as we do not want to place them with people that are not suitable for this breed.  They need lots of land.  So we do not have “Great Pyrenees for sale” in Oregon, but for home placement.  But we do expect most inquiries of people looking for Great Pyrenees puppies for sale, or LGD for sale, or even Livestock Guardian Dogs for sale will come from all over the Pacific Northwest such, Oregon (where our farm is located), but even Washington State or California.  The cities near us include Eugene, Springfield, Coburg, Creswell, Cottage Grove, Salem and Albany.  We are in Lane County, but nearby Oregon counties include: Linn County, Benton County, Douglas County, Marion County, Polk County, Multnomah County, Yamhill County, Clackamas County, Lincoln County, Washington County, Josephine County, Coos County, Columbia County, and  Deschutes County.  We hope that helps.

Our Great Pyrenees puppies have been all homed.
